چکیده

General packet radio service (GPRS) provides efficient access to the integrated services Internet from wireless networks. When the GPRS-attached mobile station attempts to send or receive data, a packet data protocol (PDP) context shall be established. The GPRS session management (SM) supports the PDP context handling, which consists of PDP context activation, deactivation, and modification procedures. In this paper, we propose an SM software architecture for the serving GPRS support node. Our design goals are to achieve compatibility, modularity, and flexibility. More importantly, our approach can accommodate the design of the SM software architecture for third-generation wireless networks. Copyright  2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

GSM Phase 2+ General Packet Radio Service GPRS: Architecture, Protocols, and Air Interface

The General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a new bearer service for GSM that greatly improves and simplifies wireless access to packet data networks, e.g., to the Internet. It applies a packet radio principle to transfer user data packets in an efficient way between mobile stations and external packet data networks. This tutorial gives an introduction to GPRS. The article discusses the system a...

Throughput and buffer analysis for GSM General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)

The Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) Phase 2+ standard specifies a new type of packet data service called General Packet Radio Service (GPRS). GPRS allows the dynamic allocation of bandwidth resources. Wireless channels are allocated to a mobile terminal based on its traffic demands. Thus results in better resource utilization compared to the circuit-based data services. In general...

GPRS support nodes

GPRS support nodes The GPRS support nodes constitute the parts of the Ericsson cellular system core network that switch packet data. The two main nodes are the serving GPRS support node (SGSN) and the gateway GPRS support node (GGSN). Figure 1 shows an example of the architecture of Ericsson’s GPRS solution in a GSM cellular network. GSNs are also used for GPRS domains within a UMTS or TDMA sys...

The GPR System : an Architecture for Integrating Active andDeductive

This paper illustrates a prototype system, called GPRS, supporting the Generalized Production Rules (GPR) database language. The GPR language integrates, in a uniied framework, active rules, which allow the speciica-tion of event driven computations on data, and deductive rules, which can be used to derive intensional relations in the style of logic programming. The prototype realizes the opera...
